Flourishes - Passion Flowers

When I was in my teens and twenties I loved to sew!
I made everything I wore except my favorite denim jeans.

All of my "tops" (that was the fashion word back then),
blazers, pants, dresses and even dresses for special occasions.

At one time I thought of being a tailor.
I loved how a garment was constructed.

My favorite part was going to the fabric stores.
My Mom and I went every Saturday.
First we went to Montgomery Ward and to Sears.

Then as my tailoring skills improved we went to
my favorite fabric stores in Denver, Colorado.

Buttons and Trims & Wonder Fabrics.

From Italian Wools, French Cottons and very soft Silks.
Buttons that put the finishing touches on each garment.

That was one of my special Passions in my life.

Now my passion is Papercrafting!

Passion Flowers stamp is from Flourishes.
When I purchase a stamp and embellishments I feel like I am tailoring again.

Stamps are like choosing the pattern.
Cardstock are like choosing the fabric.
Embellishments are like choosing the buttons, thread, ribbons and trim.

This Passion Flower is for everyone at Flourishes!
One of my favorite stamp companies is Flourishes!

Flourishes designers draw beautiful florals into amazing stamps.
Stamps I love to color!

Simply... Thank you to Jan Marie and her team at Flourishes
for giving me my new passion!

And I wish you all the best in your Passions!

Spontaneity!

  7. Hello, Elaine! I was scrolling through, enjoying your posts, and just had to stop here and sigh. Beautiful flowers! This is a set I don't have and it is a beauty. We had a passion vine growing wildly on our former home. It looks so tropical, yet here it is on the Oregon coast. I can relate to your former passion for sewing, too. I sewed my son's (long time ago) entire layette, as well as my own clothes, including pant and skirt suits with lined jackets -- the whole works. Moved on to sewing craft items and making my own patterns. I would completely stop sewing during gardening season. Then my love of paper crafting took over and my sewing room became a stamp room and I enjoy it all year long. Can't say I miss sewing at all, really. Thanks for sharing your story!

  8. Elaine, just ran across this post and it brought back so many memories of you and your mom, Marianne. I remember going through all the piles of different fabrics you'd both collected in your old sewing room and talking about what could be made from each piece of fabric. Unlimited possibilities! :-)
