Happy Birthday, Kim!

Happy Birthday, Kim!
How do you wish a Happy Birthday to a very special friend?
I am choosing to share a little about this person.

Kim is kind, considerate, compassionate, honest and giving. She loves and values her family which I have watched for over 40 years. Kim makes you feel like a part of her family when you are with her.  Mostly, I just enjoy talking with her and laughing about the funny things in life. For Kim I have created a floral card, as she is a amazing floral designer!

 Enjoy!

Embellish Half-Challenge

Wow! I was so excited when I discovered Embellish Magazine last year!
It was great to read about Trends -what is hot! New issue on line!

When I read the Challenge on the Embellish Magazine Blog I instantly pulled out this print paper that I have had for over 6 months. The colors for the Challenge were exactly the colors in this paper - Orange, Turquoise Blue and Green. Also, Kraft! Great color combination.

Also, the challenge asked the crafter to use a background stamp. How could I when the Swirl Paper was so pretty? It was fun to do a half- challenge!

Enjoy!

Bright Blue Birthdays!

Three Birthday Celebrations for one special man and two special little boys!
It is a day to celebrate and birthday cakes are the highlight of the of the day. Of course chocolate is a favorite flavor for me and most everyone I know. I imagined rich chocolate ganache icing on the cupcakes when I began coloring. Embossed and layered the birthday cards with Bright Blue, Lime Green and of course Chocolate craft paper!

3 cards with 3 different embellishments! Twinkling Pens, Ribbon and Rhinestones!

Enjoy!

Iris, Iris, Iris

Doesn't this blue bench look inviting at Schreiners Iris Gardens?

Iris have 6 (my lucky number) petals.
Three that cascade down are called Standards.
The three petals that rise up stand for Faith, Wisdom and Valor.
The Iris flower got it's name from the Greek Goddess Iris, meaning  rainbow. When I think of a rainbow I envision my Copic Markers in many, many colors. As I colored the Iris's I decided to use the 2011 new Copic colors, shades I haven't colored with and a few of my favorite colors.

The green color of the stems are in a new shade of YG61 then I added YG63, one of my favorite shades of green.

On the purple Iris I colored with V20 and V25 both 2011 colors, very pretty shades for flowers. Accented with V17 a true shade of purple.

The colors for the pink Iris, I choose the shades of RV55, RV63 and RV66,all new!

Also, I highlighted the Iris's using the new shades of E81 and E87.

The Iris is the official flower of what State?

Think Pink

This morning while I was enjoying my coffee and exploring the blogs
the ladies at Flourishes had a great challenge.
 Think Pink!

I pulled out a stamp that I love from Flourishes called Spring Bouquet.
The mix of flowers in the bouquet is beautiful.

I placed dots of Atyou Spica Clear in the centers of the small flowers.
Adding a little twinkle!

Enjoy!

Iris

Magical Encounter

Boudoir

It is magical when two colors can combine into a perfect floral match.
The shades of pink with shades of purple is beautiful!

Also, do you ever wonder how the Iris received their names? Perhaps a little research this week.

Enjoy!

Schreiners Iris Gardens are absolutely one of the most
beautiful gardens in the Pacific Northwest!
The gardens had so many iris's to choose from I am dedicating the next week to the Iris!

The cutting garden!
Today was a grandparents day. I watched one of my grandchildren play softball.
It is always a special day to when I get the chance to spend time
with the grandchildren and their parents.
